The wait is over! The WNBA season kicks off on Thursday, May 16th, 2024 with a doubleheader featuring exciting matchups between the Dallas Wings and Chicago Sky, followed by the Los Angeles Sparks taking on the Atlanta Dream.
Chicago Sky vs Dallas Wings
The Dallas Wings open their season at home against the Chicago Sky in an 8:00 AM battle. Last season, the Wings were a force to be reckoned with at home, boasting an 11-9 record. They'll look to capitalize on their home court advantage again this year. The Sky, meanwhile, travel in with a strong road record (11-9) from last season. This matchup promises a battle between two teams with proven success away from home.
Atlanta Dream vs Los Angeles Sparks
The Los Angeles Sparks welcome the Atlanta Dream to kick off their season at 10:00 AM. The Sparks will be hoping to improve on their 2023-24 record (17-23) with a strong showing on their home court, where they went 10-10 last season. The Dream, known for their aggressive defense (averaging 8.5 steals per game last season), will be a tough opponent for the Sparks.
Who Will Claim Victory?
Both matchups are sure to be thrilling as these teams fight for early-season dominance. Can the Wings continue their home court success against a strong Sky team? Will the Sparks spark a winning streak at their home opener against the defensive-minded Dream?
